Romans in Boppard - Room 1 The Roman fortress in Boppard dates back to the 4th century AD and served to secure the imperial border after it was relocated from the Taunus heights back to the Rhine in 260 AD. With its towers and walls it is today one of the best preserved military facilities of the Roman period north of the Alps.
